Learn About Dry Skin

Dry skin affects millions of people worldwide. For most people it is a minor, cosmetic problem. However, it can affect some people severely. Treating dry skin is easy in most people. Lotions such as cetaphil applied after a warm, not hot, shower will improve the appearance of most people’s skin. Read more about home care in our mild and severe dry skin sections.

Other Conditions Related to Dry Skin

Eczema is a condition in which skin is extremely sensitive to chemicals and irritants. It can range in severity from mild eczema, which causes irritation, itching, and a hot feeling in the skin. More severe cases can cause the skin to become dry to the point of breaking, cracking, and bleeding. People who suffer from this condition are thought to be much more sensitive to chemicals and irritants that are common in the environment.

Psoriasis is a condition that is usually chronic, recurring for varying periods of time during a person's life. It is characterized by red, dry skin, silver colored scales or patches, dry cracked skin, and sometimes blisters. You can read more in our psoriasis section.
